Nora Schmidt-Kesseler

Nora Schmidt – Kesseler is Chief Executive at Bundessteuerberaterkammer (German Federal Chamber of Tax Advisers) and General Manager at Deutsches wissenschaftliches Institut der Steuerberater (German Academic Institute of Tax Advisers). In these functions, she represents the interests of the German tax advisers vis-à-vis the German Parliament, the German Federal Government and other authorities in Germany. Nora regularly gives lectures on areas of tax law she specialized in and has published numerous articles in tax journals and other publications. For BStBK she gives opinion statements in all tax matters.

In addition Nora has worked as a lawyer for the last 11 years in her own independent
practice. She concentrates on fiscal law and has worked in that field for over 24 years. She gives mainly legal tax advice to federal associations and prepares model actions (test cases).

From 1986 to 1996, Nora worked for the fiscal authorities, as head of training for young revenue officers and as tax auditor on behalf of the Treasury.
From 1998 to 2002, she worked as a lawyer and fiscal expert in the tax department of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie BDI (Confederation of the German Industry). She advised major industrial companies on selected aspects in the field of company taxes.

Nora brings out publications at regular intervals. She is the author of more than 200
publications in the field of fiscal law and the co-author of the reference works, published by Ernst & Young “Die Unternehmenssteuerreform” and “Die Fortentwicklung der
Unternehmenssteuerreform” (the reform of company tax and development of company tax reform).

Nora became a delegate of the General Assembly of the CFE in 2005, of the Council in 2008 and of the Professional Affairs Committee in 2009.
