CFE European Professional Affairs Handbook for Tax Advisers

This 2nd edition of the CFE European Professional Affairs Handbook was published in March 2013 by CFE and IBFD.

This revised and extended edition contains the requirements for providing professional tax services and the relevant contact points in 23 European countries, the impacts of EU legislation and case-law on professional regulation, facts on how the tax profession is organised across Europe, and current developments in EU and national law with relevance for tax professionals.

The Handbook has been designed as a guidance for tax practitioners interested in ad­vising clients cross-border, as a reference book for CFE member organisations and as an overview for governments, EU institutions and international orga­nisations looking for best practices and regulatory ap­proaches different countries have chosen to respond to common professional issues. The book covers a wide range of topics including tax advisers´ qualifica­tion, ethics, client confidentiality, legal privilege, insu­rance, advertising, ownership of firms, multi-professi­onal practices and cross-border activity.

CFE, AOTCA and STEP present a draft Model Taxpayer Charter

CFE, AOTCA and STEP are pleased to present their joint publication, titled :

"Towards greater fairness in taxation – A Model Taxpayer Charter".

The Model Charter developed by CFE and two tax professional bodies in other regions of the world, the Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants´ Association (AOTCA) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), has been designed as a balanced document, acceptable for both governments and taxpayers in and beyond Europe. Based on a survey on the status quo of taxpayer rights and obligations in 37 countries, the Model Charter is meant as a consultation draft on which feedback from governments, international organisations and interested stakeholders is welcome, with the aim of producing a final Model Taxpayer Charter in the near future.
