Professional Affairs Committee

Purpose

The Professional Affairs Committee deals with professional and regulatory matters. In this area, it develops opinions, which are transmitted to the European Commission, other bodies of the European Union as well as to governments and the interested public.

Chairman of the CFE Professional Affairs Committee is Ian Hayes (UK).

The CFE takes an active role in professional issues across a broad spectrum by:

  • Promulgating professional standards for Tax Advisers so as to provide protection for consumers and clients
  • Taking a positive role in co-operating with EU initiatives on anti money laundering
  • Monitoring developments within the EU and elsewhere that may affect the practising rights of Tax Advisers
  • Encouraging the free movement of Tax Advisers across national borders
